RedHawks Announce 2016 Schedule
The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks will begin the 2016 regular season on Thursday, May 19 in Laredo, Texas to kick off a season-opening swing through Texas before returning to Fargo for the Home Opener at Newman Outdoor Field on Friday, May 27 against the Wichita Wingnuts.
The 2016 RedHawks schedule features seven weekend series throughout the summer, three Business Day games and home games against eight different American Association opponents. In 2016, the RedHawks will have post-game fireworks after every Friday home game including Opening Night. The club will also host three of the popular Thursday afternoon Business Day games this summer on June 23, July 14 and Sept. 1.
The RedHawks will be unveiling two new group areas for the 2016 season. The Armadillo Party Pavilion is located down the right field line by the visitor’s bullpen and will be a multi-tiered deck for groups of 125-300 fans. The Third Base Party Deck will be located behind the Budweiser Beer Garden and can accommodate groups of 50-150 fans.
During the 100-game American Association regular season, the RedHawks will play 40 games against the North Division (20 home, 20 road), 40 games against the Central Division (24 home, 16 road) and 20 games against the South Division (6 home, 14 road). There is no interleague play with the Can-Am League this summer.
The American Association North Division will consist of Fargo-Moorhead, St. Paul Saints, Sioux Falls Canaries and Winnipeg Goldeyes. The Central Division will include the Gary SouthShore RailCats, Kansas City T-Bones, Lincoln Saltdogs and Sioux City Explorers. The South Division is comprised of the Joplin Blasters, Laredo Lemurs, Wichita Wingnuts and a Texas-based club formed by the merger of the Amarillo ThunderHeads and Grand Prairie AirHogs. The Texas club will play 25 games each at Amarillo and Grand Prairie.
The St. Paul Saints will host the 2016 American Association All-Star Game at CHS Field in St. Paul on Tuesday, August 2. The regular season will end on Sept. 5. The RedHawks will travel to Winnipeg to wrap up the regular season with four games against the Goldeyes over Labor Day weekend.
