Third Annual Fargo Anime Con Is Underway
The third annual Fargo Anime Convention happening right now at the Baymont Inn and Suites.
Conventions like these are always fun and exciting and this one is no exception.
Convention Officials say this year’s turnout is set to be the highest yet.
The Fargo Anime Con claims to be the first of its kind in North Dakota and the fans here are passionate to say the least.
Many of the fans use the conventions as an opportunity to come out of their shells and have a great time.
“When I come to a convention people can’t judge me on where I go to school, where I work, where I live. Basically you meet a new person and it’s like oh hey you’re cool. You get to hang out and they don’t judge you,” says con attendee Dominick.
There are video game tournaments here including, Super Smash Bros.
There are also guest speakers.
“They want to tell me their stories, what the show meant to them. A lot of the folks that I meet grew up with the shows that I did,” said voice actor and convention guest Paul St. Peter.
There’s also a merchandise room where tons of products for fans are sold.
Artists are also here to display and sell their work.
“It really appeals to me, like it’s bright and colorful. It usually will have really strong line–work and I just really enjoy that kind of a style,” says artist Amanda Ahlstrom.
One of the biggest parts of the Anime Convention is without a doubt the costume contest.
“People get judged on the workmanship and then also a little bit of performance. It’s mostly workmanship though for their costumes,” says convention head Amanda Ahlstrom.
Many people spend months working on their costumes.
There’s clearly going to be some tough competition this year.
The convention continues through tomorrow, and you can buy a day pass for just $10.
