Are Health Organizations in Cahoots with Soda Pop Companies?
One thing many people who struggle with migraines say caffeine can either help relieve or trigger a severe headache.
But the soda pop industry is coming under fire for another reason.
And they’re not alone.
Researchers say they have uncovered several major health organizations that may be working with soda companies.
These health organizations may not be telling the whole truth when it comes to health effects of drinking soda.
Data from Boston University says Coca-Cola Bottling Company and Pepsico sponsored at least 96 health groups between 2011 and 2015.
The soda companies say they are supporting the health organizations to help promote public health.
But researchers say they are concerned because the organizations now may be sugar-coating the health effects over a large amount of soda consumption.
This comes as the WHO says governments should raise taxes on sugary drinks in order to fight global obesity.
They say if prices on soda increased by 20 percent, there would be a drop in people drinking it.
Soda consumption is being blamed for a growing obesity epidemic in the U.S. as well as increased risk of Type II diabetes and heart disease.
