First Sentencing Handed Out for Gaarsland Murder Case

The first man charged in the beating death of a Fargo man outside of two bars last year is sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Nicholas Morris, 35, had pleaded guilty in August to accomplice to murder and criminal conspiracy.

Morris is one of four people charged in the May 2015 death of Joey Gaarsland outside of Speck’s and Rick’s bars in Fargo.

Three other suspects have pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing including Jason Oien, Scott Moen and Jessy Olson.
