DeLuca Ready for 5th Year with Bison Football

FARGO, N.D. — For the first time in NDSU linebacker Nick DeLuca’s college career, he and the bison are not opening up practice as the defending national champions.
The fifth year senior returns to an NDSU defense that has the potential to be the best in the FCS.
After a season ending injury last year, DeLuca decided against going to the NFL draft and against transferring to a FBS program. Instead he decided to finish what he started at NDSU.
“It was an easy decision,” DeLuca said. “After talking to coach (Chris) Klieman and coach (Matt) Entz there really wasn’t any other option. Obviously I could have tried to go on, but I only have one more year of guaranteed football left to play. Anything after that is kind of a bonus. If I knew that I could come back for one more year it was kind of a no brainer.”
DeLuca and the Bison open up the season at home on September 2nd.
