Clay County Sheriff Will Not Seek Re-election

Bergquist’s law enforcement career has spanned 40 years.

MOORHEAD, MN (KFGO) – Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist says his law enforcement career is coming to an end.

In an email to his staff, Bergquist said he will not seek another term.

Bergquist said “it’s time to think about a slower pace of life and spending more time with my grandchildren, family, and friends.

Bergquist’s law enforcement career has spanned 40 years.

He was first elected in 2002.

He says serving as sheriff has been “an honor and privilege.”
