A Fargo bank is going green, outside on its roof!
Starion Financial's branch in Fargo's Urban Plains development is installing a living, growing, and green roof with help from Greenberg Roofing.
The roof uses soil and vegetation for insulation, decreasing the building's energy consumption by up to 20 percent, reducing storm water discharge, and increasing absorption of pollutants.
It is the largest roof garden in Fargo.
"I think this is a great project for Fargo Moorhead," Bank Market Pres. Dan Staller said. "It's an example of how our bank is trying to give back and contribute and be sensitive to our environment and make sure we leave as little of a footprint as we can."
All of Starion's branches try to be eco-friendly, with other features like geothermal heating and cooling.
