Hundreds of college students are leaving the comforts of their homes behind and moving into a new kind of home called dorm life. It's move–in day at the dorms of NDSU. A big step not only for many students but their families as well. For freshman Alex Spacek, it's a time filled with mixed emotions. "I'm a little excited and nervous at the same time." It's a feeling that his parents share as they help him move in even though he isn't moving far from his home in West Fargo. "I'm a little nervous as a mom and he's my youngest. We're going to experience an empty nest," his mom, Rena Stenseth said. "It's a new chapter in his life so it's exciting for us and for him," Jamie Stenseth explained. Though Spacek is excited to begin this new chapter, there are things he'll miss about the comforts of home. "Probably the food and the luxury of a financially secured life." A luxury given to him by his parents who say they will miss having him around.. Rena said, "I like to say good night and good morning to him so that will be a change. We won't be able to do it face to face.." Jamie added he will miss someone doing the dishes. And As Spacek works on making his new dorm a home, he keeps in mind his real home isn't too far away. "I'm thinking clothes are in our future to wash every week," Jamie said. "It's close enough so I can always come back and see them on a somewhat but not too regular basis." Keeping them posted on all his future college adventures. NDSU classes start Monday night
