Truckers Get Into Gear to Help Special Olympics
September 22, 2012
Truck and semi drivers moved their big rigs for a good cause.
Nearly 60 semis lined up at the Red River Valley Fair Grounds in West Fargo Saturday morning for the World's Largest Truck Convoy to fundraise for North Dakota Special Olympics.
North Dakota Special Olympics President and CEO Kathy Meagher says, "We are pretty excited about today, the number of truck drivers and truck companies participating today at this event has almost doubled since last year."
An auction was also held at the event. Truck drivers bid on being the truck to lead the convoy know as the "lead dog" spot. This year's lead dog spot auctioned for $1,700.
