Fargo Man Arrested on Luring Charges

Bookmark and Share

A police sting catches a Fargo sex offender trying to lure a minor over the computer.

Fargo police arrested 34-year-old Jeffrey Buckmeier.

They say Buckmeier started sexually suggestive chats online last month with a person he thought was a female under the age of 15.

He was actually chatting with an investigator of the Child Sex Offender Internet Investigations Unit based out of Golden, Colorado.

Lt. Joel Vettel says, "This suspect was targeting children on the internet with the specific purpose of engaging in sexual activity with them and we as a law enforcement agency, as a community, will not tolerate that."

Buckmeier faces up to 10 years in prison on the luring charge and more charges could be coming.

He was previously convicted of Indecent Exposure in 2008 and assessed as a moderate-risk sex offender.
