NORTH FARGO, N.D. -

The 22nd Annual Jass Festival took place at the El Zagal Shrine in North Fargo.

The family event is free of charge and features local jazz artists and bands.

Donations collected will be split in half between the local Shriners children hospital and the VA medical center.

A majority of the festival is supported by a donation from the director in memory of his father.

"I love organizing this but the best part is to just see the players out there doing their thing because really that's who's doing the work here and it's just so great to hear what comes out," says Christopher Hanson, the festival's director.

The festival's goal is to keep Jazz alive in the Red River Valley.
