WEST FARGO, N.D. -

It's West Fargo Public School's 140th birthday!

To celebrate, the district invites people to join them in filling a time capsule.

For the last three weeks, students have been making birthday cards to put in the capsule that will be opened on the district's 150th birthday.

Yearbooks and old newspaper clippings from past decades are displayed at Leidal Education Center for people to enjoy.

Community members are celebrating right before tonight's regular school board meeting.

"When we realized that the 140th is this year we decided well why not? This is a big year for us, we surpassed 10,000 students," said Communications and Community Relations Specialist Stephanie Hansen. "We're in the middle of building all the projects from the 2015 bond referendum so it's just a great year to celebrate West Fargo public schools."

This is the first time West Fargo Public Schools has celebrated its birthday.
