WEST FARGO, N.D. -

It's National Coffee With a Cop day and West Fargo Police Department is holding a special meet and greet.

The department has been holding coffee with a cop events each month for a number of years now but for the holiday they decided to do something special.

Instead of going out to the community for coffee they invited the community into the new station for a tour of the building.

"Benefits are that the residents get to have a direct relationship with somebody in the police department. They get to put a face and a name to the whole department. They have that direct interaction and then they can feel comfortable coming forward with any information, says Assistant-Chief of the West Fargo Police Department Jerry Boyer.

Boyer also says these events are a great opportunity for the elderly to hear about recent scams in the area to stay safe.

The next Coffee with a cop event will be on October 21st.
