ST. PAUL, Minn. -

Two political leaders from Minnesota are honoring the life of Jacob Wetterling and his parents.

Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken introduced a Senate resolution honoring the Wetterlings.

They wrote  that this resolution will both honor Jacob and also remember the sacrifice and strength of the entire Wetterling family to prevent child exploitation and abductions.

Danny Heinrich, 53, admitted in federal court last Tuesday that he kidnapped, sexually assaulted and killed Jacob in 1989.

He also led authorities to Jacob's remains.

As part of a plea deal, Heinrich only pleaded guilty to child porn charges.

Prosecutors say that was necessary to get Heinrich's cooperation.
