BISMARCK, N.D. -

The measure seeking to increase North Dakota's tobacco tax will appear on the November ballot.

The measure needed more than 13,000 signatures on a petition to go for a statewide vote but backers turned in more than 21,000.

The Raise It for Health North Dakota wants to raise the tax to $2.20, up from $0.44.

The last increase on the tobacco tax was in 1993.
