Alerus Financial is closing two local branches.
The West Fargo location on Sheyenne Street and the Osgood branch on 45th Street will close their doors permanently on November 23rd.
The employees will either be absorbed into other positions in the company or transferred to other branches.
Alerus attributes the decision to close the branches to the rise of online banking.
"We've noticed over the past few years that our customer behaviors are changing. There's less emphasis on using brick and mortar branches and a greater emphasis on technology and so this decision allows us to redeploy some of those resources," said Dan Doeden, Valley Market President.
Customers will still have the option of going to the three other local branches that will remain open.
The third branch closing is located in the Twin Cities.
