MOORHEAD, Minn. -

An annual tradition is put on hold in Moorhead.

Organizers canceled the Greater Moorhead Days parade, originally scheduled for September 9th.

The usual parade route along 20th Street South is being used as a construction detour route.

Other possible routes, like 8th Street South, are also affected by construction.

With some projects going over schedule, organizers claim the parade would create a traffic nightmare in Moorhead, which made canceling it a no-brainer.

Moorhead Parks & Recreation Director Holly Heitkamp says, ""There's a lot of construction, and there isn't another good spot that we looked at that would work for."

But don't worry, Greater Moorhead Days will go on.

They've added six new events for the weekend.

You can find a schedule on the event website.
