A man woke up to an intruder in his home on the 3000 block of Bohnet Boulevard in North Fargo.

The victim heard a noise in his house and then encountered a young man in his home who fled immediately.

Police want to remind people to take checked all doors and windows in their home before going to bed.

It's believed that the homeowner had left his door unlocked.

"I just don't think that that's something people can legitimately prepare for.  How are they going to react when they see someone in their house.  In this case the suspect fled the house, but you don't know the mindset," said Deputy Chief Joe Anderson of the Fargo Police Department.

The victim says he saw the suspect flee in a small two door sedan.

Police have not located the car or the suspect.
