FARGO, N.D. -

Students with the Fargo South High School Marching Band are getting a unique opportunity by collaborating with NDSU.

Fargo South's band director tells KVRR that the idea of the collaboration was suggested by NDSU earlier this year.

Both schools agreed giving the high school students the opportunity to play with the University band would be a great experience and help them keep playing and pursue music long after they graduate high school.

"Well this is the beginning of our school year so we're just getting things kicked off and this is a great way to get some energy into the program and connect some of our students with some fine musicians in our area. That makes it really exciting to play together. So we're really excited to collaborate this tonight," says Fargo South Band Director Sebastian Tackling.

The bands play a pregame performance and also at half time at the Bruin and West Fargo Packers football game.
