A major concern for Alzheimer's and dementia patients is they will wander off and potentially put themselves in harm's way.
Home Instead Senior Care has developed an online resource that alerts friends and family when a loved one suffering from the disease goes missing.
Missing Senior Network is a free service offered online.
Families caring for a loved one with dementia or Alzheimer's can log on and create their own personal network that can be alerted in case of an emergency.
"A family member has unexpectedly come and picked them up and taken them for an errand or for a ride or something. So sometimes that happens so the best thing you can do is send out a message to your network just to see. Maybe a person is with someone," says Arlette Preston the owner of Home Instead Senior Care in Fargo.
