MOORHEAD, Minn. -

The heat can be "ruff" for our four legged friends.

That's why the city of Moorhead opens up the South Park wading pool for paws and tails to enjoy once a year.

Dogs of all shapes and sizes, and their owners, enjoyed the afternoon splashing around in the pool.

At the end of the summer the pool drains its water so that dogs can swim.

The cost is $2.50 per dog, and all proceeds go to the Moorhead Dog Park.

"I've heard some really positive feedback about this, people are really happy we do this. Well we got to let the pools drain out in the end of the year so why not let the dogs swim in there," said Jacob Jlvorson, who works for the city.

Dogs had to have ID tags and be in good health in order to take part in the dip day.
