A local group of artists is giving away 200 art kits as part of Coats for Kids which KVRR is proudly sponsoring.
The Creative Plains Foundation purchased art kits with an array of colored pencils, paints and craft tools.
Kits will be given away with the coats on a first–come first–served basis, limiting one art kit per family.
Foundation members hope this inspires kids to take on art during a time when many schools continue making cuts to art programs.
"Art is incredibly important for kids both cognitively and emotional development, and so our goal really is to provide access to art," Christine Jaeger of the Creative Plains Foundation Executive Director said.
The Creative Plains Foundation teaches kids art courses all year round.
