FARGO, N.D. -

The operators of an area cat shelter say someone broke in early this morning by smashing a glass door and $200 is missing.

Staff at CATS Cradle say around 1:30 a.m., someone used a rock to smash through the front door of their building near downtown Fargo.

They say the burglary suspect took the donation box.

Witnesses told police it appeared to be a black male wearing all black and he tucked something under his shirt as he fled on a bike.

CATS Cradle staff say they're thankful all the cats are safe.

"I really appreciate the awareness of the community and watching our backs. A little rock and a little robbery is not going to stop us from continuing our mission, we're going to continue to find homes," CATS Cradle executive director Gail Adams-Ventzke says.

Gail says donors have already recouped the losses, but are now working on improving the security system.
