Crews Respond to Sabin House Fire

A neighbor notices a house across the street is on fire and immediately calls authorities.

It happened around 1:30 Friday afternoon on 2nd Street North in Sabin.

Firefighters arrived to heavy smoke coming from the windows of this house and called for help from Dilworth and Barnesville fire departments.

Authorities say no one was inside when the fire broke out and no one lived there.

The house had been up for sale.

Clay County Sheriff Bill Bergquist says, “It was so much involved that it wasn’t real safe to send anybody in there I think they have been doing some work on the house maybe some remodeling or something.”

The state fire marshal has been called out to determine the cause of the fire.

A damage estimate is not yet known.
