Fargo Leaders Join Proposed Shuttle Committee

It’s become the great parking debate between city leaders in Moorhead and Fargo.

Fargo commissioners talked about the proposed shuttle between downtown and Moorhead Center Mall while the new city hall is built.

Commissioner Dave Piepkorn is concerned about spending taxpayer money on a shuttle that would benefit Moorhead businesses.

Leaders in Moorhead are concerned that the mall parking lot would become just a “park-and-ride”.

Other options might include the Fargodome.

“I just want to look at other options within in the city of Fargo and to me the Dome is a potential”, said Piepkorn.

“What was frustrating is this is a huge opportunity for the Moorhead Center Mall and they are looking at us like we’re trying to get something out of them and I’m saying as a small business owner if I had 250 cars parked in front of my business, I’d be in favor of that”.

Commissioners voted to approve Piepkorn and fellow commissioner Mike Williams as Fargo’s representatives on a committee looking at the shuttle proposal.
