Hamil Found Not Guilty of Vehicular Homicide
A Florida man has been found not guilty in the death of his girlfriend who died after their car ended up in an Otter Tail County lake.
42-year-old David Hamil was acquitted of four counts of criminal vehicular homicide in the death of Holly Homewood last July just north of Pelican Rapids.
He was convicted of drunk driving.
State experts testified Hamil was going 89 miles per hour at the time.
His attorney argued that Homewood was also to blame for hitting Hamil in the face while he was driving, causing him to lose control of the car on a curve.
