ArtSage helps bring art to aging adults.
The Minnesota based non–profit hosted free “Intro To Arts & Aging” workshops for anyone interested in the growing field of arts and aging.
They covered topics like aging myths, the aging brain, and history of the arts and aging movement.
During one workshop, participants drew pictures with crayons later analyzing them as a group describing what they meant and represented.
Art Master and Aging Trainer Jane Tygesson says, “You see some of these people who were never artists in their youth and as they become seniors they suddenly become artists. So we believe there’s a lifetime learning and they can continue to learn. They learn things about themselves by doing that.”
The workshops offer participants the chance to plan and implement creative art activities with older adults as well as networking opportunities.
