Proposed Moorhead Sidewalk Poetry
Moorhead streets could soon be paved with poetry.
City Council made the proposal to imprint local poetry into the new sidewalk replacements on 8th Street and Main Avenue this summer.
A similar project in St. Paul which now showcases over 450 sidewalk poems inspires the Moorhead project.
One city council member believes the idea will help to enhance the downtown area.
City Council Mari Dailey says, “It’s very welcoming and gives some ownership to some local people who would have their poetry or their artwork on the pavement and something for prosperity. It’s going to be there for many years and I think it will add just uniqueness.”
Those looking to have their poetry considered for the project can submit entries at the Moorhead City website until 4pm on April 17.
