Gov. Dayton Backs Farm Aid Bill for Avian Flu

Gov. Dayton says he’s backing a bill that offers $10 million for farmers who have lost more than 5 million birds to the Avian flu.

The bill would allow each farmer to apply for a loan up to $200,000 to cover their losses due to the H5N2 virus.

The federal government will only reimburse farmers for euthanized birds after the flock has an infection confirmation.

Dayton has already signed a bill for nearly $1 million to fight the Avian flu.
