North Dakota National Guard Makes History with First Female General

For the first time in history, the North Dakota National Guard will have its first female general.

Col. Giselle “Gigi” Wilz, of Bismarck, is being promoted to brigadier general.

Wilz’s 32 years of service includes military police, leadership positions and chief of staff of the ND National Guard.

Later this month she will be commanding NATO forces in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
