Changes in Expired IDs and Licenses in Minnesota

Minnesota is making changes to its expired driver’s licenses and ID cards.

Starting next week, people who apply for renewed or duplicate ID cards will have a “void” stamped next to their picture.

The state used to clip the corner next to the photo.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety hopes it keep IDs from being used fraudulently.

They say it now puts the state in compliance with a federal requirement for commercial licenses.
