Gov. Dayton: “Dark Day” for Lake Mille Lacs

Gov. Dayton says today is a “dark day” after the Minnesota D-N-R says it will close down the walleye season on Lake Mille Lacs.

The department says the lake has already gone over its yearly catch quota.

Dayton is working on getting a special session to get help to resorts who will be hit the hardest from lack of tourists.

Many business owners say they think the D-N-R is to blame for the early closing because they didn’t manage the lake well.

Dayton says he is heading north on Saturday to encourage people to fish for bass, northern and other fish in the lake.
