Lt. Joel Vettel discusses the investigation and suspect description.

“Approximately 8:30 this evening, officers responded to this location in reference to a possible armed robbery.  When they arrived, they did talk to the clerks inside of this establishment.  They stated that a lone black male entered the store, immediately went to the counter he did take and demand money from the clerk.  At that point, the clerk did open the till and at that point the individual did take the money from the location and fled on foot.  He left the store on foot and immediately returned, then ran through the parking lot westbound.”

“He’s described as a black male, approximately 5’11”, thin build.  He was wearing what appeared to be a rust colored leather style coat.  Underneath that, some sort of hood.  He did have a mask on during the first part of the robbery.  He was wearing some sort of khaki pants that appears to have some sort of cargo pockets along the side.”

“At this point we are following up on the video equipment inside of the store, along with interviewing the clerks.  We did do a canvas of the area and continue to do that.”

“He did have what appears to the clerk to be some sort of handgun that was located inside of his waistband.  He did not threaten the clerk with the handgun nor did he display the handgun.  It was simply inside what appeared to be his waistband at the time of the event.”
