Early Morning Fire Destroys Car and Damages Home

An early morning fire destroys a car and damages a garage south of Fargo.

The family was able to escape unharmed.

Horace firefighters responded to a fire on the 8500 block of 25th Street South around 3:30 AM.

The homeowner tells us about the rude awakening.

Tracy Jordre says strangers were pounding on their door to tell them that their car was engulfed in flames.

It is believed the fire started in the car then climbed up to the garage near the roof area.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before more damage was done to the home.

“It’s not quite real yet. I think we’re just starting to process. It’s truly one of those moments where no matter how bad it is, we’re just grateful that nobody got hurt. That’s all that matters,” says Jordre.

All seven family members were able to escape.

Her husband’s pickup also suffered damage, along with dry wall in the garage.

Jordre’s niece’s car is demolished.

There is about $10,000 in damage done to the garage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
