NDSU’s President Wants University Song Verses Removed

NDSU President Dean Bresciani is calling for a review of the university’s song because he says some of the words are troubling.

The third verse of “The Yellow and the Green” has the lyric “and the red man passes with him”.

President Bresciani says he does not like the references to cultural and ethnic populations.

He says the first verse can still be used but wants the school to stop using the others.

“The Yellow and the Green” was written in 1907 by two of the school’s faculty members.
