Local National Guard Unit Put On Alert

A North Dakota National Guard unit based in Devils Lake might be called to duty in Afghanistan.

The 136th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion has been notified that about 60 members have been placed on alert status.

This means that the unit might be mobilized in the near future.

Soldiers in the unit come from more than 25 communities in North Dakota, Minnesota, Kentucky and Nevada.
