UPDATED: Fargo Murder Trial on Hold Again
New evidence in the Joey Gaarsland murder case results in a delayed trial for 33-year-old Jason Oien.
He is accused of murder and criminal conspiracy.
Gaarsland was killed outside of Rick’s Bar last May.
The state’s attorney asked to allow two new witnesses to testify in court.
One of the witnesses is the sister of Oien’s girlfriend, who allegedly made a Facebook post about a conversation she had with Oien immediately after the crime took place.
She says this evidence shows Oien is not guilty.
The other witness is a waitress at Rick’s Bar who allegedly saw some of the fight take place.
His defense attorney says the witnesses aren’t new to the case and if they were allowed in, asked the judge to give them time to process the evidence and testimony.
A new trial date has not yet been determined.
