Judge Declines To Throw Out Challenge To Voter ID Law

A federal judge refuses to throw out a lawsuit alleging that North Dakota’s voter ID laws are unconstitutional.

Seven members of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa filed the complaint back in January alleging that the state’s requirements violate the U.S. Voting Rights Act.

The tribe says some of its members can’t afford the required identification.

North Dakota state law has required voters to provide ID since 2004.
