Storm Damage in Bemidji
Storm damage is spread out all over in Bemidji.
People are not expected to have power for a few more days., and with trees still blocking access to roads it’s not a quick fix.
” We had wide spread power outages both in the city of Bemidji and joining townships. Initially it was reported that there were thousands of people without power” says Christopher Muller, Director of Emergency Management.
The last time Beltrami county saw a storm that caused damage like this one was in 2012.
A neighborhood along Lake Bemidji has been planning a party for months welcoming the new UND President. They were alarmed to see the damage to trees around them, but surprised to see their set up stay.
“I had a tent set up–I’ll be danged if nothing is touched. Trees all around it and everything. So this morning when I woke up talked to neighbors and we decided we’re going to have a party anyways,” says Greg Opp.
There were no reports of injuries as a result of the storm.
The city wants to remind those cleaning up their yards to be cautious of the high temperatures.
