Oil Production Drops to Under One Million Daily Barrels

The North Dakota Department of Mineral Resources says oil production in the state has dropped below one million barrels per day for the first time in two years.

Officials say the state was producing more than one million barrels of oil in July but the drop in production came just one month later.

North Dakota set a state production record in December of 2014 with one point two million barrels daily.

Operation of drill rigs has dropped 85 percent since 2012.

There are just 33 in operation, down from 218.
