Olympic Gold Medalist Facing Fourth Cancer Battle at 58-Years-Old

He’s an Olympic gold medalist and professional figure skater…but if you ask Scott Hamilton, he would say his unique hobby is “collecting life-threatening illnesses”.

In an interview with People magazine, 58-year-old Hamilton announced he has been diagnosed with a third brain tumor.

Previously he had been diagnosed in 2004 and in 2010.

He is also a survivor of testicular cancer, which he battled publicly in 1997.

Hamilton says, even with this fourth battle set before him, he’s not letting it get to him.

“You know, cancer’s a tough thing and it’s really devastated a lot of families,” said Hamilton. “I lost my mother to cancer and it changed my life forever.  But we choose…I choose to truly in everything that we do to celebrate life.”

Hamilton and his wife have four children ages eight to 15.

When asked how he talks to his kids about his diagnosis, he says he sets the tone by saying it’s not how you fall, it’s about how you get back up.
