President Trump Gives High Praise to the Senate for Health Care Vote
Republicans voted to advance floor debate on their efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare
WASHINGTON, D.C. — President Trump is praising the Senate for moving forward on a bill to repeal Obamacare.
Vice President Pence cast the tie-breaking vote.
“The vice president votes in the affirmative and the motion is agreed to,” he said, then tapped the gavel down to close the vote.
Republicans voted to advance floor debate on their efforts to repeal and replace Obamacare.
Senators Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska sided with Democrats.
Senator John McCain returned from Arizona to vote for the first time since announcing he has brain cancer.
McCain said he would not vote for the current GOP version of the repeal-and-replace bill.
