Chili and Salsa Cookoff Contest

Family and friends compete for first place chili and salsa

Some families could find out if their beer, spices, and beef were good enough ingredients to win West Fargo’s Best Chili and Salsa Cookoff.

Judges from the Fox radio station and the West Fargo Fire Department had the tough job of tasting the competition’s favorite recipes.

The public could then enjoy free samples and sign up for door prizes.

Community members say it is a good way to escape the cold and enjoy others company.

“Winter is hard in North Dakota, there is just not a lot to do outdoors. So we try to do some fun indoor recreational planning [and] different things to get the community back together, interact with each other instead of being stuck in their house all winter,” said Recreational Specialist Katie Ettish.

Jaci Pfau and Wade Swenson took home the $100 first place prize in the chili contest.

The West Fargo’s Winter Days continues tomorrow with sledding and sleigh rides.
