Heitkamp Meets With Educators
Senator Heidi Heitkamp is looking to make some positive changes in North Dakota’s education system.
She met with educators from the state and discussed some of the challenges facing the system.
One of the challenges discussed includes “No Child Left Behind.”
Heitkamp says the one size fits all approach is hindering rural schools and causing unforeseen challenges.
“We don’t want a bunch of people in Washington D.C. determining what education should look like for Fargo, or for Mandan or for West Fargo,” said Heitkamp.
Other issues discussed at the round-table were Native American students and teaching standards.
