Is it the End of Springfest?

UND students partying the weekend before finals in University Park, is coming to an end with the cancellation of Springfest .
But what was this event to students?
Some students said it was a community rager, a wild party and a place where….
For UND Pre-Med student Ryan Brown he says the festival was his only break from studying.
“Doing things the whole year you know not having fun sometimes while my friends are out having fun and it’s nice to go out and have fun with everyone else,” said Ryan Brown.
Rhombus Guys pulled out as hosts. But, if a replacement is found, the mayor and UND President are asking the Park District to not allow any alcohol in parks during the same weekend, to effectively cancel the event.
One of the problems is the party is going outside of the boundaries of the park and ending up at places like Greek Row.
UND Spokesman Peter Johnson said, “A lot of activity around that area. A lot of these house parties, where some cases you get 100–200 people at these house parties. People climbing up on roofs and it’s very dangerous kinds of behaviors.”
Last year at Springfest students were criticized after wearing t-shirts that said “Sioux-per Drunk.” Ryan says a couple of bad apples ruin it for the rest of the students.
“Not everybody who goes to Springfest is so drunk that they’re falling over everywhere that they’re getting into fights and stuff like that,” said Brown.
UND is bringing in alternative events like concerts for students.
But for many they will celebrate Springfest even if it is not an official event.
The mayor and UND president are also asking for the local bars not to provide extreme drink specials during that weekend.
