Kids Glimpse into World Cultures
Elementary students learn all about different cultures in a unique way.
Jefferson Elementary had its first ever Diversity Day.
Students ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade watched, listened and learned from performers and speakers from around the world.
The school has students from all over and hopes this event will help the students accept and respect one another.
School counselor Laura Sokolofsky said, “They very much are trying to be American, and maybe lose some of their culture, but we want to honor their culture. That it is special, it is important and it is something that you don’t need to let go to become an American.”
The kids also sampled breads from other cultures while marking them off on their passports.
