Daughter Takes Over Family

One daughter is raising money to take care of her siblings, after the death of her two parents

In 2012, MacKenzie Jackson’s mother died of a heart attack and on January 4th of this year, her father suddenly passed away.

Eightteen–year–old Mackenzie was left to take care of her two other siblings and is trying to keep the family together under one home.

A benefit was held Saturday at the Faith Lutheran Church, with a free–will offering.

Sloppy Joes along with other treats were served and there was a silent auction.

MacKenzie talked about where she gets her strength.

“I get it from my parents because I know that they are still around, and they are still guiding me to where I need to go,  but I think really right now it’s my brother and sister, for sure, ’cause they’re the reason I wake up every day and do what I do,” says MacKenzie Jackson.

Friends of the Jackson family also believe that the 18–year–old girl is stronger than she looks.

“She’s very, very strong; she’s stronger than a lot of people that are a lot older than her. She’s got a great head on her shoulders. She’s doing really well,” says close family friend, Tawnia Olson.

More than $3,500 was donated to the Jackson family, not counting the silent action.
