Breach In The Tolna Dam

Engineers with the state water commission and Nelson County highway department are keeping an eye on a breach in the Tolna Dam.

Local officials say a 5-foot hole has developed in the dam. A small amount of water is flowing through the hole from spring run-off.

People living in about 10 to 12 farms downstream have been notified but have not been ordered to evacuate.

Officials say any effects from the water would be localized and likely have no impact on Bald Hill Dam or Lake Ashtabula.
