Senate Passes Mammogram Legislation

North Dakota’s Senate has passed legislation that would require doctors to notify patients when a mammogram detects dense breast tissue.

The Senate voted 33 to 13 Friday to approve the measure. The measure now goes back to the House for reconsideration.

Bill supporters say dense breast tissue can make it harder for a mammogram to detect a possible tumor and may increase the risk of breast cancer.
