Thousands of people were in luck today as the warm weather helped bring many out to watch the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in downtown Fargo.

Racers marked the beginning of the 2015 downtown Fargo St. Patrick’s Day Parade with the annual 5k Run/Walk.

“It’s pretty fun. You know, With the focus in Fargo–Moorhead on wellness and getting people active,” said organizer Therese Vogel.

Thousands from around the area came for the festivities including Carroll Minton and her family.

They just moved to Fargo in December and it’s their first big chance to connect with the community.

“The people are great you know, it’s a larger town but it has a really small town feel and I love it,” said Minton of Fargo.

But her 10–year–old daughter isn’t as impressed with the parade.

“Not that nice because I’ve been to a parade before,” said Esther Minton.

The parade was filled with traditional dance, music and of course firetrucks.

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade was a good way for people to get out after the winter and even mayoral candidates took part in the parade.

“It’s a beautiful day and the suns shining and we’re celebrating spring and I think the river crested,” said Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney.

“Hey it’s been wonderful this is just one of those big events for Fargo and downtown Fargo,” said Fargo Mayor Candidate Brad Wimmer.

This is one of the warmest days for the parade here in the valley.

“It’s a beautiful day it here, it’s got to be 70 degrees. I’m actually sweating while I’m out here so it’s awesome,” said Greg Arens with Skydive Fargo.

“Spring is finally here. It’s nice to be out the dog is happy to be out of the house and seeing people,” said Rachelle Fortier of Fargo.

A warm start to a festive weekend for families like the Minton’s.

Last year during the parade, the high was 22 degrees.
